Poker Bankroll
Your poker bankroll is the complete money you can play with.
The Bankroll consists of:
- Your startmoney (the amount of money you deposited, won in a freeroll or got for free)
- Your winnings
- Your bonus - / rakeback money
Players who want to win in poker or even live from playing poker, always have to be careful with their bankroll and play limits they can afford to loose at without their bankroll beeing damaged to much.
Reasons for a proper Bankroll are:
- Psychology: You are more afraid to loose if you play with all or almost all your (bankroll) money.
- Poker is a game of the long run. With a small bankroll compared to the limits you're playing at, you may get unlucky in the beginning and won't get your long run reward.
We recommend the following rule:
Have 25 times the amount of money in your bankroll than the limit you're playing at is high.
That means for example: if you play $0.25 / $0.50 what is the $50 Limit, you should have $1250 Bankroll on the whole.
However, with getting rakeback, you can play with the same bankroll in higher limits. Althoug you may get the rakeback not til the end of the month, you can still already calculate it as your bankroll money. Since it's your money!
An good amount to play with rakeback is to have at least 20 times the "buy in" of your limit.
That would mean: with $1000 you can play 0.25 / 0.50 well. ....with rakeback!
For some people these recomendations may seem a bit high. But for building up your bankroll steady, it's best to have a lot more money in your bankroll than the limit you're playing in is high.
How to continue now?
Cash out 50% of your winnings of the last month at the beginning of every new month. That way, you keep on building your bankroll and regulary cash out money. A good aspect of this is also, that you will be playing only with your winnings after a while. You don't play with your deposited money then.
